House character

What makes the spirit taste as it does

Tullibardine combines mineral-rich Ochil Hills water with a straightforward four-pot-still Highland production setup and on-site control from distillation through maturation and bottling. Its stainless-steel fermentation regime is comparatively conventional, placing greater emphasis on clean spirit production and subsequent wood management. The extensive on-site warehousing and cooperage give the distillery unusually direct control over cask handling after distillation.

Why we pour it

Tullibardine is a particularly self-contained Highland operation: almost every stage after malting happens on the Blackford site. Danny Burn water feeds a four-still plant, while casks are matured, maintained and eventually bottled within the same distillery complex. That makes wood management and on-site control central to understanding the Tullibardine style.

Production

How it is made

Water

Tullibardine uses water from the Danny Burn, fed by mineral-rich springs in the Ochil Hills.

Fermentation

The current official site states the distillery has 10 washbacks; established specialist sources describe stainless-steel washbacks and a minimum fermentation of roughly 52 hours.

Stills & distillation

Four copper pot stills are operated on site: two wash stills and two spirit stills. Established specialist sources report wash-still capacities around 21,500 litres and spirit-still capacities around 16,200 litres.

Maturation

Maturation is managed on site with warehousing capacity for around 20,000 casks; the distillery also operates its own cooperage and bottling plant.
