House character
Spirit of Yorkshire combines estate-grown barley and chalk-aquifer water with an unusual still configuration incorporating two large pot stills and a four-plate column working with the spirit still. That setup gives the distillers additional control over spirit character while preserving a farm-led production identity from grain through maturation. The distillery describes Filey Bay's core profile as light, fruity and creamy, consistent with its aim to build an approachable but technically distinctive English single malt.

Spirit of Yorkshire is the physical distillery behind Filey Bay and one of the clearest true field-to-bottle whisky operations in England. Its barley is grown on the family farm, its water comes from the chalk aquifer beneath that land, and its unusual combination of pot stills with a four-plate copper column gives the distillers extra control over spirit style. For customers, Filey Bay is therefore not simply a brand story: it is a single-estate whisky whose agriculture, brewing, distillation and maturation are all closely linked.
