What makes the spirit taste as it does

Glengyle runs for roughly three months of the year, worked by the same team and within the same production calendar as Springbank. The whisky is released under the Kilkerran name because the Glengyle name was already in use elsewhere.

Why we pour it

Glengyle was founded in 1872 by William Mitchell and stopped producing in 1925. The distillery was bought in 2000 and, after restoration, spirit ran again in 2004. It is the home of Kilkerran, the name used for the whisky because Glengyle was unavailable as a brand. Production takes place in Campbeltown for around three months each year, sharing the Springbank team and calendar, with barley floor malted at Springbank and bottling carried out in Campbeltown.

Production

How it is made

Malt

Barley for Glengyle is floor malted at Springbank, which lies a short distance away in Campbeltown.

Maturation

Kilkerran is bottled in Campbeltown, keeping the finished whisky within the town where it is distilled.
