Glen Scotia Distillery

Glen Scotia's defining production lever is fermentation breadth: shorter ferments contribute nuttier tones while very long ferments push fruit and complexity. A single pair of stills preserves a comparatively intimate, batch-driven production style, while different malt peat levels allow the distillery to move from coastal unpeated spirit to more overtly smoky variants. Dunnage maturation then reinforces the traditional Campbeltown combination of fruit, oil, maritime salinity and occasional smoke.

Glen Scotia is one of Campbeltown's surviving working distilleries and still operates on a comparatively small scale. Its unusual spread of fermentation times, from short to very long, is central to the distillery's ability to build both nutty and fruity character before distillation through a single pair of stills. That production flexibility helps explain why Glen Scotia can show the oily, saline and slightly industrial character associated with Campbeltown while still carrying generous orchard and tropical fruit.
