Ardnahoe Distillery

Ardnahoe combines peated malt with a relatively long 65-70 hour fermentation designed to generate a fruitier wash before distillation. Large lantern-shaped stills, long descending lyne arms and slow distillation into worm tubs favour texture and weight while retaining fruit and peat. Bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks then provide a structured maturation framework around that fruity, peaty and textural new make.

Ardnahoe is one of the clearest examples of a modern Islay distillery built around traditional hardware. Its four Oregon pine washbacks and 65-70 hour fermentation aim to create a fruitier wash, while unusually long lyne arms and worm tubs give the spirit a weightier, more textural shape. In the glass, that makes the distillery particularly interesting for customers who enjoy peat but also want fruit, density and cask-driven richness rather than smoke alone.
